Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Viñales is a beautiful valley rich with traditional, lush farmlands and encircled by mountains and dome-like limestone structures (mogotes) as high as 300 meters. One of the most unique aspects of Viñales is that it has been very successful at preserving its original character since its colonization at the beginning of the 19th century. This allows visitors to witness and partake in traditional methods of agriculture (especially tobacco growing) and see the unique architecture and culture of Cuba’s farms and villages. You will get to witness the village of Viñales in its original layout, home to the original culture of Cuba. For this reason, Cubans strongly connect with the Viñales Valley because of its beauty, and the historical and cultural importance it still maintains.
